The mystery of where Martian meteorites came from was finally solved in 1985 when trapped gas inclusions were discovered inside of the shergottite EETA 79001.
The composition of the trapped gas was found to be identical to the martian atmosphere based on data obtained by the Viking probes that landed on Mars in 1976.
Martian
Meteorites are important science due to the fact they are the only
known samples of another planet available for research.
We have wondered for many years if there was life on mars... perhaps one day the mystery will be answered, by a meteorite.
One such meteorite may have already been found, ALH84001.
Here is your chance to own actual meteorites that came from Mars.
